DriveWise Safe Driving Week 2009!

Wow!!  What an amazing week we have had promoting National Safe Driving Week 2008!  We had Media challenges in Victoria and Kelowna.

Victoria’s Media challenge held on December 2, started at 6:00am when we drove the DriveWise Simulator downtown to A-Channel News and Kool FM 107.3.  We had Erik Thompson on the simulator in the morning from A channel and then the morning show gang from Kool 107.3jumped on in!!

The DriveWise Simulator! Amazing classroom inside!

Danny the intern was the first - in confidence, he quietly told me that he likes to speed, has a bit of road rage and of course NEVER gets into any crashes “that are his fault!”  So, of course, our job as driving educators is to get Danny the intern to watch the drivers AROUND him, so he can even avoid those crashes that “were never his fault“!!  Let’s face it, even crashes that are “not our fault” still cause damage not only to cars, but to us, and others too!

Here is a picture of Danny - who scored 8.5 on his on road assessment by a very “happy” Ken Levert.

Danny Hearts the Simulator!

Once Danny got through the initial “impairment” of having the drunk goggles on, he went through the program while trying to stay inbetween the lines on the road….but of course, he FAILED TO.

After the simulator, we had Robin Farrel and Brian Bailey attempt the simulator and the on road assessment.  Here are some pictures of that!

Brian with his reading glasses on!

Ken taking Brian out for his evaluation - Ken is not impressed that Brian is on his cell!

Robin and the paparazzi! They just can't seem to leave her alone!

Thanks guys!  This was a lot of fun!!!!

You are a

great group of people!!!

AMAZING COMMENTS FROM SOME OF OUR STUDENTS!

IF YOU HAVE ANY COMMENTS TO ADD, PLEASE COMMENT HERE!  WE WILL ADD TO THIS LIST!

Oct 25, 2008 - Fabulous course for someone like me with no experience or anything!

Oct 21, 2008 - The movie that we watched during week 5 with the accident and all the people talking about their brothers/sons that were killed really had a sobering effect on our class.  I thought it was a very smart thing to make us watch.

Oct 21, 2008 - The video about the big accident was really powerful.  It showed how one stupid mistake can change or even ruin many peoples lives.

Oct 21, 2008 - Good class!  I learned a lot!

Oct 06m, 2008 - Dear DriveWise.  I would like to thank you for the amazing course!  My daughter would never have learned what she did with you if I were to have taught her.  She is a confident driver and is now telling me how to drive properly!  The addition of simulators to your company makes for a much better learning facility and as the third child that has gone through your programs over  the past 7 years, I can see how successful you will be with them!  The skills that were taught to Alysha early on with the Driving Simulator will life saving!  Learning how to get on a freeway first on the Simulator put her at ease when she first did it in the car with Val.  I can’t thank you enough!  Thanks Val!  You’re the BEST instructor!

Sept 27, 08 - Val is amazing!  Give her a raise (she didn’t tell me to say that!)  Made learning fun!

Sept 18, 08 - Jay was really good, kept it informative but fun and interesting.  He’s a really good teacher, the simulator was fun!

Sept 18, 08 - Excellent Teaching!

Drivewise BC - Driving Schools in Victoria, Nanaimo, Kamloops and Kelowna

At DriveWise BC we have been training new, young, mature and experienced drivers for over 33 years!  We have recently switched our partnership to offer a more advanced and updated program - DriveWise Canada!

We have 30+ driving instructors (who are the BEST in the industry!) and an amazing office staff of 10.  Customer Service is our number 1 priority!!  See the owl? That’s us.

The DriveWise program has 3 parts to it.

  1. Classroom Theory
  2. Driving Simulation
  3. In-car training lessons.

CLASSROOM SESSIONS AT DRIVEWISE BC

Our classroom theory is now enhanced with Driving Simulation, which makes our program the MOST modern, interactive and current program to ever to step foot in B.C. The classroom is done in 6-three hour sessions, and is very flexible. If you miss a classroom session, you can ALWAYS make it up FREE OF CHARGE! The difference with our classroom sessions and a “traditional” driver training program is the following:

  • Current information brought to you by Power Point Presentation on Large brand new flat screen TVs
  • What you learn, you practice on our Driving Simulator, which makes you a much more confident driver even before you get in the car with one of the DriveWise instructors.
  • Classroom Performance System. The Classroom Performance System or CPS is where modern classes in North America are headed. Each DriveWise student is assigned a “clicker” and electronically they will answer all questions and quizzes with this clicker system. Ever felt shy or embarrassed answering a question? Not anymore with the clickers! No one except the instructor will know who does not understand certain topics. Ever felt like one person in the group dominates and answers questions all the time….annoying everyone? This person can now CLICK AWAY and not bother the rest of the class! Click here to see a picture of the CPS.

DRIVING SIMULATION AT DRIVEWISE BC

Our driving simulators are top notch, state-of-the-art to make the virtual reality experience the absolute best for our students. Each Simulator was put together by a professional engineer who does this (and many other things) for a living. We have what we call the “small sims” as seen here “click here” in most of our centres, but when people see them, they say, “These are the SMALL SIMS?” because we have the “elite” model with three 42-inch plasma screens, so it really looks like you are driving a car.

(Stay tuned all 15-year-olds in B.C.! You too can start to prepare to drive even before you get your learners licence with our DriveWise pre-drivers course!)

Each Simulation Lab puts our students through a series of learning techniques that were first taught in class. Such learning outcomes would be:

  • Proper steering techniques
  • Turning at small intersections
  • Stopping at intersections
  • Left turns at intersections
  • Proper scans at intersections
  • Stale and fresh lights
  • Dealing with Pedestrians
  • Dealing with Cyclists
  • Dealing with Animals
  • Lane changes at slow speeds
  • Lane changes at high speeds
  • Merging on and off a highway or freeway
  • All parking maneuvers (parallel parking, reverse stall parking, hill parking etc)
  • Emergency Procedures
  • What to do if your tire blows
  • What to do if you hit black ice or hydroplane
  • What to do if you encounter a child running out from behind a parked vehicle
  • And so so so many more scenarios!

And the best part is this is ALL INCLUDED IN OUR FULL PROGRAM…NOT AN ADD ON, AND WILL NOT COST OUR CUSTOMERS ANY EXTRA MONEY!!

IN CAR DRIVING LESSONS AT DRIVEWISE BC

In-car driving lessons are the last part of our course. Again, with the simulation training our students will be more prepared for the on-road sessions! We teach all basic and advanced Defensive Driving in our new Honda Civics (very recently adding Honda Civic Hybrids) that are dual controlled. All our instructors are hired because of their amazing personalities and their ability to teach the most dangerous activity new drivers will ever encounter. All road test skills are a part of our program as is the use of our car for the ICBC test, should you purchase the extra package!

THE BEST CUSTOMER SERVICE AT DRIVEWISE BC

Our friendly team will help answer any of your questions and help you prepare your loved one to be the safest most conscientious driver possible. If you have ANY questions, please feel free to email me directly at kate@drivewisebc.com and I am happy to help you out in any way!
